I wanted the tagline of this blog to be "When an Aggie Loves a Longhorn", but Beka and Travis were adament that their wedding was not the place for "House Divided" jokes :0) As a 3rd generation Longhorn who went to A&M, I get it! No more mention of the rivalry, I promise.
This session was a "turn lemons into lemonade" situation. A horrible theft incident left them with no professional photos of their March wedding. It's every photographer's worst nightmare (I lie awake at night dreading a corrupt data card), but it happens. That's the lemons.
The lemonade is that they were so sweet to trust me to come and help them craft some portraits that would recreate the look and feel of their wedding day, and we had so much fun doing it! I told Beka that we are usually rushed to get to the reception on wedding days, and so it was going to be fun to be able to take our time and get some gorgeous shots that showcase who they are as a couple.
Did I mention that during the shoot, we were approached by quite a few gorgeous horses who lived in the field we were shooting in? As the resident horses of the Bible Camp that Beka and Travis worked (and met) at, they knew them all by name! Sometimes as photographers we are just dropped into awesome and unexpected moments, and that sure was one of them for me.
Add to the horses a groom who has an infectious smile (you'll see), a couple who is so clearly in love and at ease in front of the camera, and a dance shared underneath a tree lined country road, and I was in heaven, y'all.
I will say though that I have NEVER been so nervous about losing files. I drove home and began my usual backup process, but instead of walking away from my computer, I sat there for 20 minutes and just watched the files copy onto my backup drive.
To the sweet newlyweds, I hope these images provide you with happiness and a bit of closure from the loss of your original photographs.
