Brette + Travis // Lake Somerville Engagement Session
Nov 12, 2017 | By: Mary Pena Photography
Spoiler alert: There are no pictures with a lake in this session, despite the name. We were at a park at Lake Somerville, but were not able to actually get close to the water. To make a long story short, the elderly couple who were working the entrance booth to the park would not budge an inch on a supposed policy against photo sessions at the park. Which I have to tell you, I have never encountered before. But, I suppose rules are rules.
Luckily for us, I had noticed that the trees/grass on the sides of the road were actually very nice for pictures. So, we decided to pull over our cars on the side of the road by the gate and do the session there! Brette and Travis were a bit skeptical I think, because the scenery didn't look like anything spectacular. But if you saw it through a photographer's eyes, you would see how nicely it would look in a blurred background behind this cute couple.
Travis and Brette are ridiculously photogenic, because they can't seem to be within a foot of each other without laughing and smiling. It was adorable, to say the least.
I was reminded of one of the reasons why photography is so excited. You just never know what you are going to get! Here we were on a cloudy day, denied access to our location, and these turned out to be some of my all time favorites.
Thanks to these two for being adventurous and going with the flow!
