Chelsey + David // Engagement Session in Brenham, Texas
Jul 9, 2019 | By: Mary Pena Photography
Confession: Most of my sessions/weddings involve trampling around a field at some point. I'm no stranger to watching for hazards. I make sure to tell my clients to watch for ant beds and I bring a can of bug repellent with me on most summer photoshoots. I'm careful about chiggers and check for ticks when I get home.
This time, when I tried out a new location with Chelsey and David, it was SNAKES that had our attention! We went to a neat location in Washington County to take advantage of a creek bed with exposed rock. We saw no less than FOUR snakes in the water. I was convinced they were water mocassions. My husband thinks that statistically, at least a few were likely to be lookalike water snakes. But y'all, does it matter???? It was creepy. Several were swimming and one just poked it's head out and stared at us.
Ok, enough hazards. Let's talk about all the romantic details! Chelsey and David are set to wed in October and I was lucky enough to be brought onto their vendor team. With a fall wedding, we needed to get these pictures taken ASAP for save-the-dates, so a summer portrait session it was. They were very good sports (as most Texans are) and smiled through the sweat. Bet you can't even tell!
We brought their pups out for the second location at Old Baylor Park, and both behaved well and looked great in bandanas bought for the occassion. The sun was setting at such a nice angle behind the limestone pillars and trees that I had a blast playing with glowing light and lens flares. I love the warm and rich tones that came out of this session!
David and Chelsey, I can't wait to celebrate with you in October!
