Katlyn + Taylor // Enchanted Rock Engagement Session

Is it ok if I start this blog with a confession? This shoot was SO incredibly selfish of me. Shooting on Enchanted Rock has been a major item on my creative bucket list for quite some time. I've just been waiting for the right couple to spring the idea on. When I had my initial wedding consultation with Katlyn, we ended up chatting about a shared love of hiking and the outdoors. I decided to go for it, and casually dropped the idea that it might be fun to do an adventure engagement session on Enchanted Rock. Katlyn loved the idea as much as I did, and so a plan was born.

It took a bit of preparation to pull off. Enchanted Rock is busy on the weekends and you need a reservation to be able to enter. Katlyn and I were ready to jump on our computers 30 days prior in order to secure our spots! We had chosen a day that historically has good weather, and then I just prayed for that to come true. As the day approached, I was absolutely giddy about the forecast. I told my husband that if I had gotten to choose a forecast, this would be it. Sunny, light breeze, with a high of 67. The stars were aligning!

My wonderful hubby Ricky came along for the session. We got to the park about 4 hours before Katlyn and Taylor, both to choose spots for the session and to enjoy the trails ourselves. By the time they showed up (nicely dressed and freshly showered) we were a mess. But I had a plan for some spots that I thought would get perfect light as the sun started to set, and so we headed off.

Things just kept falling into place, from the sunset colors matching Katlyn's cardigan to the second location boasting a natural changing room made of giant boulders. Katlyn changed into a flowing dress with a lacy layer to filter the sunset, and I near about jumped off enchanted rock with excitement. I had to continuously assure Taylor that I'm usually not THAT over the top on wedding days, it was just truly a photographer's dream come true session.

I will quit talking and let you see for yourselves. Any brides want to do a bridal session up here with me??
