Alexandra + Blake // Married at Saint Mark's the Evangelist
Aug 31, 2020 | By: Mary Pena Photography
Alexandra and Blake were featured on my blog a LONG time ago, when they won my "Let Freedom Ring" giveaway for military/first responders. We got to know each other over a coffee consulation and an evening spent taking engagement portraits in College Station. It would have been about a year until we saw each other again at their Spring 2020 wedding, but we all know Spring 2020 had other plans. After a few weeks of throwing around new dates, and then another few weeks of waiting to see what happened, they made the decision to move the #MillerTime celebration to August.
When the day finally rolled around, it was typical August in Texas (hot). Luckily, Alex and Blake had an indoor ceremony at Saint Mark's the Evangelist Catholic Church in San Antonio. The church was beautiful and modern inside, and I thoroughly enjoyed taking some portraits in front of their lovely stained glass window. Blake got a bit...a lot... choked up as Alex came down the aisle in her lace gown and chapel-length veil, and I was right there to capture the moment.
The ceremony took place in the afternoon, and so guests had a bit of a break to rest before the reception at 6:30. The bridal party transitioned to The Milestone New Braunfels to finish decorating, and then I was treated to a solid hour of portrait time at the beautifully landscaped venue. When the guests arrived, everyone enjoyed fajitas and cocktails while the sun set through the windows. Over the next few hours the cake was cut, bouquet tossed, toasts were made, and salsa dancing dominated the dance floor.
Before I knew it, my almost 2 year journey with Alex and Blake was over. The overwhelming feeling of the day was just happiness and relief that these two finally got to have the celebration that they wanted and deserved.
