Chelcy + Colt // Engagement Session at Lick Creek Park
Jun 17, 2019 | By: Mary Pena Photography
I felt like I've known Chelcy for a long time, even though I hadn't met her before yesterday. She is one of those brides who booked me about 18 months out from her wedding (which is totally what I did when I was engaged; I love planners). She lives out of town and our initial consultation was via phone, so her engagement session was my first opportunity to meet her in person and give her a hug! We've been talking and e-mailing back and forth so much that it felt like we were just saying "hi again."
What DID throw me for a loop was how tall Colt is! Their height difference was a fun posing challenge, mostly because they were adventurous and up for anything (go stand in the tall grass.....pick her up....sit in a field.....they did it all!)
These two love basketball and so we started off at a court to grab a few themed pictures before heading to Lick Creek Park to do what I do best: Romance in the middle of a field.
Chelcy and Colt were also another one of my weather re-schedules from April/May when Texas decided to go crazy with the storms. I will say this, however: All of my couples who had to move due to weather ended up getting AWESOME evenings for their portraits. This was no different. Humidity was low, there was a breeze, and there were magically no mosquitos this evening at the Park.
It's going to be a whole YEAR before I get to shoot this fun couple again on their wedding day. It feels like a long time but I have a feeling it will creep up on us and be here before we know it!
