Quick back story: Today's bride, Cierra, is the sister of one of my former brides. In fact, she is the sister of Jody, who had a rock 'n roll festival themed wedding about a year ago that was a so fun to shoot. I specifically remember a moment at that wedding when Cierra (then a bridesmaid) got into an epic rap battle on the dance floor that had me both laughing and impressed. When I was offered the opportunity to come alongside this family again for Cierra's wedding, I jumped at the chance, knowing it was going to be a BLAST!
Cierra and Drew chose The Springs, Katy for their venue. I love The Springs because the manicured grounds are facing the perfect direction for sunset portaits filtered by the trees. Today was one of those days where the timeline runs a bit behind (no problem!) and we did all of the portraits after the ceremony. I kept telling Cierra that just meant we would have the BEST light for all of the pictures, and that couldn't have been more accurate. Just check out the gorgeous glow we got in the images!
The ceremony went off without a hitch, and I thoroughly enjoyed the long walk down the aisle that The Springs provides. I was able to capture everyone's anticipation, and subsequent reaction, as the doors opened and Cierra approached Drew with her father. The ceremony was officiated by Cierra's grandmother, which added a touch of heritage that is lovely to witness.
The reception was so fun I ended up staying a little late just to watch all the dancing! Cierra and her sorority sisters did a choreographed dance, and Drew cut loose with more enthusiasm than I think I've ever seen in a groom.
Cierra and Drew, if you dance your way through life the way you did through your wedding, what an awesome ride you will have!
