Why was this session so special to me? Was it because it was in a new location (El Paso)? Was it because that location was gorgeous and had mountains, which is something I never get to photograph? Was it because a precious puppy named Tyson tagged along? Yes, yes, and yes...but also....it was family!!! My sweet sister-in-law Danielle is recently engaged to Herb, and not only did I get to meet him for the first time over the Christmas holiday, but I got to take some engagement photos for them.
If you are like I was 17 years ago when I first visited El Paso, you might not know that it is split in half by mountains. My in-laws live on the West side, and we headed to a state park at the foot of the Franklin Mountains there. It just so happened the park closed right as we arrived, but we had lovely views from right outside the gate. Oddly enough, it's the second time that has happend to me on at a session, and both times, the land right around the gate was all we needed.
After shooting at sunset at the moutains, we headed to the east side, where you find downtown El Paso. It was beautifully lit up for Christmas, which also meant it was extremely crowded. We had a nice time walking around and taking in the views, and snapping pictures where we could.
I hope you enjoy these images of Danielle and my soon to be brother-in-law!
