When I first met Jody, she told me two things: That her Dad is a drummer in a heavy metal band, and her wedding was going to be music festival themed. She then threw in details like "bright colors, flowers coming out of guitars, and denim jackets". And that was it for me, folks! I was in a love with a bride. All year long I have been patiently waiting for this wedding, and when the day finally rolled around, it was everything that I though it would be (and then some). So without further ado, I'm ready to share with you WedFest 2019 - Til Death do us PARTY!
The white barn at Venue 311 provided the perfect backdrop for Jody and Alex's vibrantly colored big day. Immediately upon entering, guests were greeted with a card and guestbook table. The "guest guitar" for signing was laid out next to a drum with a hole cut in it for cards. There was a bejewelled guitar propped up behind that, I just thought to myself that this family must have a lot of instruments laying around their home! Each table was named after a real-life music festival, and the head tables had V.I.P passes laid out for parents and bridal party. There was a "holy matrimony" donut board in lieu of a cake table which added to the pops of color around the room.
Speaking of pops of color, the bridesmaids each wore a different sunset hue, and carried hand-painted tambourines instead of flowers. You have got to take a look at them below, because they were stunning!
The ceremony took place outside with the blue sky and sun shining down, which gave the bridal party the perfect excuse to use their new sunglasses. To me, a highlight of the ceremony was the bride's dog, who first sat on her dress train, and then sunbathed on the aisle watching her humans tie the knot.
The reception was kicked off with a Star Wars themed light saber battle by the bridal party (it was May 4th, after all), and a hilarious dance shared by the bride and her father. And then.....oohhhh and then....the party started. I had a bride head-banging and playing air guitar. I had a bridesmaid rap a song so accurately I felt like I was at a concert. There were glowsticks, glow wands, and a guest dressed like Chewbacca. It was loud, fun, hilarious, and I didn't want the night to be over.
Alex and Jody: If you guys have this much fun on a normal basis, you are going to have a wonderful marriage.
