Laura + Dylan // Married at St. Thomas Episcopal Church
Jul 7, 2019 | By: Mary Pena Photography
This wedding was filled with heritage, and I loved it.
Let's begin the story at the church that the bride and her family have attended for years (St. Thomas Episcopal in College Station). Their historic, older chapel was restored several years ago, and it is quaint and lovely. Warm wood covers the wall and ceilings, rich red carpet goes all the way down the aisle, and light comes in from a row of side windows.
Let's continue the story with the cameo ring that Laura wore. It was worn by her Great Grandmother, Grandmother, Mother, and sister on their wedding days as well. If you look at their details shot, you will notice yet ANOTHER ring in there. Dylan also had an heirloom ring given to him by his Grandfather.
Laura spent the hours leading up to the ceremony with her Mom and Sister. We were well ahead of schedule, so there was no need to rush with getting dressed. Laura and Dylan both took a few moments to read letters they had written each other. They also chose to do a first look, and so we got a majority of family photos done prior to the ceremony.
After a joyful ceremony and Episcopal Mass, the new Mr. and Mrs. Matthews dined with their guests on a delicious meal by Madden's Casual Gourmet. Toasts were given with champagne, the cake was cut, and they indulged me with 10 minutes of portraits outside at sunset.
Laura changed into a crisp blue dress for a getaway, and they braved a gauntlet of birdseed on their way to their car (decorated by friends).
It was an intimate, small and sentimental wedding which really allowed the bride and groom to spend a lot of time with each guest. I felt very honored to be a part of this close circle of family and friends as they celebrated Laura, Dylan, and the new life they are beginning together.
