I have to start this blog with a little story. And fair warning: I think I already told this story when I blogged David and Lauren's engagement session. However, unless you are close friends and family of the happy couple, you probably didn't read it then, or don't remember.
David and Lauren met when they were neighbors at the same student apartment complex in Aggieland. Coincidently, they are both fans of the New Orleans Saints, and David caught sight of Lauren walking around in a Saints shirt. He immediately recognized her as his future wife, and began plotting to form a relationship. And do you know what he came up with? Laundry. He pretended his laundry machine was broken so that he could go and wash his clothes at Lauren's apartment.
Or so the story goes.
But isn't that the sweetest? I'm hoping for Lauren's sake that his eagerness for laundry continues well into their marriage.
Their wedding day began bright, sunny, and a fabulous 60 degrees for early January in Brenham, Texas. The couple chose the Ant Street Inn for their reception, and it had all of the charm that has been making me slowly fall in love with Brenham over the last few years. We spent the afternoon getting everyone ready and taking our pre-ceremony portraits before heading down the road to Saint Peter's Episcopal Church for the ceremony.
Saint Peter's was still decorated for Christmas, and the poinsettias and Christmas tree were lovely with the rich, red carpet. I had so much fun incorporating the red doors of the main sanctuary into their portraits, and we stayed until the sun was setting.
Back at Ant Street Inn, guests enjoyed a dinner catered by Nathan's (BBQ royalty in Brenham). Cake and champagne served, and varsity's horns were sawed off (as they should be). Lauren changed into sneakers and hit the dance floor with David, and it was wonderful to see them let loose and enjoy the party after all the day's hard work.
Lauren and David, it's been a tremendous pleasure to witness and capture so many moments for you both! Congratulations on your beautiful wedding.
